Three: Staff Colour Sergeant H. Harman, 23 Provost Company, Staff of the Army, late Royal Horse Artillery

Afghanistan 1878-80, 1 clasp, Ahmed Khel (3676 Ag. Bombr., A/B. R.H.A.); Army L.S. & G.C., V.R., small letter reverse (Cr. Sergt., Garrn. Staff); Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R., coinage head (S.C.Sjt., St. of Army) contact marks, therfore nearly very fine, the last good very fine (3) £320-350

Henry Harman was born in the Parish of Igglesham, Winchelsea, Sussex, on 13 June 1852, and attested as a Driver for the Royal Horse Artillery at Dover on 13 June 1871. He was promoted to the rank of Sergeant in October 1884 and transferred to the Staff of the Army, 23rd Provost Company, Ireland, in April 1886. Promoted to Colour Sergeant in April 1889, he received his L.S. & G.C. Medal the following October, and was discharged at Athlone in June 1892. He received the M.S.M. with Annuity in January 1933 (AO 10/33) and died at Southsea on 4 June 1940. His death certificate records that he was once a Boys’ Brigade Manager. Sold with copy service papers.
