South Africa 1834-53 (Clr.-Srjt., 27th Regt.); Meritorious Service Medal, V.R. (Serjt.-Major, 27th Foot) official correction to ‘27th’ on the second medal, both fitted with silver ribbon buckles, contact wear and polished, otherwise nearly very fine (2) £400-450

William McDonald served in the First Kaffir War of 1834-35 and in the Second Frontier War of 1846-47. He was awarded the M.S.M. with £10 Annuity in 1857, and is believed to have died c.1872. McInnes notes that a single M.S.M. to this man is on display in the Regimental Museum.
