Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 1 clasp, Cape Colony (Capt. S. Hancock, Rly. Pnr. Rgt.); together with an interesting pass, used aboard H.M.T. Canada, comprising a printed card ‘H.M.T. Canada, this authorizes the bearer to pass, G. Strangman Handcock, Commandant Prisoners of War Ships’, the other side with ink inscription ‘Clerical Staff, H.M.T. Canada 1915’, the centre of the card has applied to it a brass badge, in the form of a GVR cypher, this attached with string and a lead seal, extremely fine £180-220

Sold with five pages of biographical research detail, mostly relating to Strangman’s pre war employment as a manager of various gold mines in South Africa.
