John Lowry Foster is confirmed on the 1896 rolls in both ‘C’ Troop, Bulawayo Field Force, and the B.S.A. Police. He is confirmed on the roll for the 1897 clasp with the B.S.A. Police. He died of fever at Fort Hartley, aged 25 years, on 23 March 1897. Although shown as ‘Foster’ on the rolls, he apparently signed his name as ‘Forster’.
