Private James Mc Mahon was born near Ennis, Co. Clare, and enlisted into the 41st Foot at Cork on 20 November 1850, aged 18 years 9 months. He served in the Crimea and was wounded by a gunshot in the ankle at the battle of Inkermann, being sent to England from Scutari on 22 February 1855. He was subesequently discharged ‘unfit for further service’ at Horse Guards in July 1855. Sold with copy service papers.
