Dragoon Guards, a very fine large rectangular portrait miniature of a junior officer c1834-1843, the three-quarter length picture shows the sitter wearing a single breasted scarlet coatee embellished with gold laced stand -up collar gilt buttons, gold laced box epaulettes and gold laced pouch belt, a gold laced waist belt is worn over a gold and crimson girdle; the sitter’s gaunleted left hand rests on his sabre and his right hand cradles his helmet, which appears to be of the 1834 pattern, this is gilt with gilt mounts and chin scales and bears a black hair plume; mounted within an ornate gilt frame which in turn is mounted in a glazed brown velvet lined rosewood frame, the figure extremely well executed the helmet rather crudely done not removed from the frames but assumed to be on ivory, slight damage to the brown velvet lining and the rear backing of the rosewood frame £800-1200
