John Puttock Andrews was born in Rendham, Suffolk on 24 April 1894, the son of John Andrews and Hannah Lois Puttock. As a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Cyclist Corps he entered the Egypt theatre of war in 1915. Later discharged and awarded the Silver War Badge (not with lot). At the time of his application for his war medals he was living at Carrington Lodge, Sheen Road, Richmond, S.W. With copied service papers, m.i.c. and roll extract.
