Clarence Arthur Wellington Hawker was born in East Hampstead on 18 June 1881. He was appointed a 2nd Lieutenant in the 3rd Battalion Wiltshire Regiment on 18 October 1899 and advanced to Lieutenant in March 1900. He served with the 2nd Wiltshire Regiment in South Africa, September 1900-July 1901, placed on sick leave at home, July-December 1901, returning to South Africa, May-December 1902. In 1903 he was attached to the Royal Welsh Fusiliers for appointment to the Indian Army. As a Lieutenant in the 2nd garrison Battalion Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry he entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 22 August 1916. Also awarded the Victory Medal. Latterly an Audit Clerk with the Ministry of Health, living at 35 The Ridgeway, Golders Green, he died on 28 April 1946. Sold with Birth and Death Certificates and other copied research.
