John Head was born in the Parish of Milton, near Pewsey, Wiltshire. A Blacksmith by occupation, he attested for the 2nd Regiment of Life Guards at London on 18 November 1841. Awarded five Good Conduct Badges. Discharged at his own request after 24 years service on 1 February 1866. With copied service papers.
