Excavated Badges Buckles & Buttons. An interesting selection comprising a Light Cavalry crowned ‘VR’ harness badge (some buckling), a die-stamped circular badge for Trinity House (demi lion/sword centre) (tip of buckle missing), a Light Cavalry or Royal Naval Georgian officer’s waist belt clasp, the wearer’s right hand lion’s mask section and the double headed swan section (in quite good condition) together with two non-matching left hand sections and another right hand section, all with lions’ masks, a WIVR part silver mount from a Light Cavalry officer’s waist belt plate and an EVIIR RE’s cap badge (requires new shank). The buttons some with and some without shanks include the following interesting examples all in a collectable condition. OFFICERS. 33rd (1st Yorkshire West Riding) Regiment large silver plate c1790-1820, Marine Companies large silver plate c1780-1800, Royal Navy large fouled anchor only (pre 1787 very good condition), various other Royal Naval example 1787-1827, Cornwall Rifle Volunteers (Ripley 34) 2 examples both with shanks, Bengal Pilot Service, several Royal Artillery 1789-1801 examples, 32nd (DCLI) large gilt tunic (some damage). OTHER RANKS examples include a scarce large tunic example to the 16th Devon Rifle Vols (Stonehouse) (Ripley 50) (complete but flattened), Royal Dockyard Battn., 10th (North Lincoln) Regiment Bombay Artillery, a scarce Senior NCO’s small coatee in silver plate to the 10th (North Lincoln) Regiment c1830-1855 a small ‘VR’ coatee Royal Sappers and Miners. Mess Waiters to the 32nd/DCLI and the 77th/2nd Middlesex, the former flattened, a small selection of livery examples. Other interesting excavated items are a pipe tamper in the shape of a pair of bellows, two good barrels from a child’s model cannon, a medieval harness pendant in the shape of a shield, an ornate18th/19th century chest key and a 18th/19th century cask tap with a long-horned ram’s head finial, generally good for excavated condition (quantity)
