Pair: Surgeon-Major H. Thom, Indian Army

Henry Thom was born on 14 July 1831. He qualified as M.D. Ed. 1852; L.R.C.S. Ed. Appointed an Assistant Surgeon on 4 August 1844, he served with the 1st Sikh Infantry in the expedition against the Bozdars, under General Chamberlain in 1857, and served with the 5th Punjab Infantry, under Sir Hope Grant, throughout the campaign in Oude and Byswarrah and Trans-Gogra during 1858. He served in medical charge of this regiment until the end of the campaign on the Nepal frontier in December 1859. Thom was present at Baree, April 1858; Simree, May 1858; Nawabgunge, June 1858; Sultanpore, August 1858 and Sitka Ghaut, February 1959. Thom was promoted to Surgeon in August 1867 and to Surgeon-Major in July 1873. Surgeon-Major Thom died at Lahore on 11 November 1879. With copied research.
