Estimate: £15–£25

Belgium, Leopold I, 10-Centimes [1832-56], obverse engraved B, reverse countermarked LDR in oblong punch with rounded corners, 17.45gms. Undertype worn virtually flat, marks fine, unusual (£15-25)

Ex H.D. Gibbs (454), where it was ascribed to Sierra Leone and the undertype incorrectly identified as a ‘worn English penny’. The additional provenance ‘ex Parsons’ is not confirmable; no such piece was included in either H.A. Parsons auction, nor is there mention of it in Parsons’ articles on the coins of Sierra Leone (SNC 1948)
