D.F.M. London Gazette 2 June 1944: Joseph Allan Dodds, Sergeant, No. 166 Sqn. His skill as a Flight Engineer and his determination to press home the attack have contributed largely to the success of the crew as a whole. He has shown complete disregard of enemy opposition and by his confident bearing and coolness in the face of the enemy has set a magnificent example to the squadron and the other Flight Engineers.’
