Queen’s South Africa 1899-1902, 6 clasps, Belmont, Modder River, Driefontein, Johannesburg, Diamond Hill, Belfast (9973 Corl., Cldstm...); King’s South Africa 1901-02, 2 clasps, South Africa 1901, South Africa 1902 (Serjt., Coldstream Guards); British War and Victory Medals (Lieut., R.A.F.); Army L.S. & G.C., G.V.R. (9973 Q.M. Sjt., C. Gds.); Meritorious Service Medal, G.VI.R., 2nd issue (9973 W.O.Cl.2, Coldm. Gds.) the first two with heavy contact wear, therefore fine, suspension crudely re-fixed on K.S.A., otherwise nearly extremely fine (6) £300-350

George Roberts was born at Southport, Lancashire, and enlisted into the Coldstream Guards, aged 18, in 1895. He was promoted to Corporal in 1900, to Sergeant in 1902, and Colour Sergeant in 1904. He was awarded his L.S. & G.C. medal in 1914, and was commissioned into the Royal Flying Corps in 1917. His Meritorious Service Medal was announced in Army Order 87 of 1950.
