St Vincent, The Carib War, 1773, a cast and chased silver medal by G.M. Moser, laureate and armoured bust of George III right, rev. Britannia standing with shield, offering olive branch to defeated Carib, whose musket lies at his feet, 55mm, 73.57g (BHM 183; E 750; Betts 529; BDM IV, 162-3; Tancred p.47; Ford XIV, 304-5). Border and edge smoothed as usually found, good very fine; with original shaped suspension loop £900-1,200

A rebellion by the Caribs, which had been instigated by the French settlers, was subdued by Major General William Dalrymple (1736-1807), Commander-in-Chief of the West Indies
