Albert Ryans was born in and enlisted at Castleford, Yorkshire. Serving as Private S/21383 in the 4th/5th Battalion Royal Highlanders (Black Watch), he was killed in action on 10 June 1918, aged 24 years. He was buried in the Duisans British Cemetery, Etrun, Pas de Calais, France. He was the husband of Elda J. Ryans, of Gibson Yard, Mickletown, Methley, Leeds.
