Three: Corporal D. Anning, Australian Army

Vietnam 1964-73 (55690 D. Anning); South Vietnam Medal 1964, 1 clasp, 1960- (55690 D. Anning) mounted as worn; South Vietnam, Psychological Warfare Medal, ‘American’ type, enamelled, good very fine and better (3) £240-280

Derek Anning, a Bricklayer by occupation, enlisted at Perth, Western Australia on 19 March 1968 and was discharged at Brisbane, Queensland on 18 March 1974. With copied Certificate of Discharge which states he served 6 years of which 5 years 3 months were on ‘Instructional duties with Civil Affairs, Training and Engineer units’; it further states that 352 days were on overseas service. For his services, the Certificate of Discharge states he was awarded the Vietnam Medal and Vietnamese Campaign Medal.

With copied research which states that Sapper D. Anning, a member of the 1st Australian Civil Affairs Unit, was awarded the Psychological Warfare Medal from the Vietnamese Minister of Information and the Viet Cong Defection Programme Professor Nguyen Ngoc An in a ceremony held at the 1st Australian Task Force (1ATF) to honour Australians and New Zealanders for their work in the fields of civic action and psychological warfare. With a copied photograph of Anning being presented with the award.
