War Medal 1939-45; Africa Service Medal, both officially named (58177 W. A. Groves); Efficiency Medal, G.VI.R., 1st issue, Union of South Africa (Cpl. W. A. Groves, S.A.A.F.) good very fine (3) £60-80

William Alfred Groves was born in Grahamstown, Cape Province on 23 September 1904. A Cabinet Maker from 36 McInlyis Street, Jeppe, Johannesburg, he attested for the South African Air Force at Germiston on 9 April 1940, having previously served 6 years with the Wit Rifles. Served with the 5th Wing, Germiston, April 1942-July 1943 and latterly with the 5th Air Depot. Discharged on 7 December 1945 having been employed as an Electrician. With copied service papers confirming medals.
