Pair: Trooper T. Conroy, Transvaal Horse, late 21st Regiment

Thomas Conroy was born in Prescott, Lancashire. A Groom by occupation, he attested for the 61st Brigade at Liverpool on 4 September 1877, aged 18 years, 3 months. Posted to the 2nd Battalion 31st Regiment, he served in South Africa, February 1879-May 1883 and India, May-December 1883. He was actively employed during the Zulu War of 1879 and Transvaal War of 1880. His papers state ‘Wounded in right thigh’ but is not listed in the published casualty lists for either of the above campaigns. After being discharged from regular service he went on to serve in the Transvaal Horse. With copied service papers.
