Late Captain in the 1st Volunteer Battalion North Staffordshire Regiment. Appointed Lieutenant in the Imperial Yeomanry in March 1900; resigned May 1901.

Lieutenant C. E. Challinor was one of the officers of the 65th (Leicestershire) Company Imperial Yeomanry. This company served further north than any other unit in the Boer War, when serving in the expedition to put down the uprising by the native chief Mapondera in Rhodesia. With some service notes; additionally entitled to the clasp ‘Rhodesia’.
