Board of Trade Medal for Gallantry in Saving Life at Sea, V.R., large, bronze (Andreas T. Lund, Wreck of the “Invincible” on the 8th December-1895) some edge bruising, good very fine £250-300

Awarded for rescuing the crew of the fishing smack Invincible, of Hull, which was abandoned in the North Sea on 8 December 1895.

Seaman Andres Lund, of the steamship
Tortona of Leith, was awarded the Board of Trade Gallantry Medal in Bronze with a gratuity of £1; three other seamen were similarly rewarded and the Mate of the Tortona was awarded the Medal in silver. (Ref. The Sea Gallantry Medal, by R. J. Scarlett).
