An ‘Annuity’ M.S.M. pair awarded to Quartermaster Serjeant C. Gollop, Lancashire Fusiliers

Christopher Gollop was born in the Parish of St. Marylebone, London. He enlisted into the 20th Foot on 4 August 1868, aged 14 years, 5 months. He was promoted to a Lance-Corporal in February 1877; Corporal in March 1877; Sergeant in June 1879, and was appointed Drum Major in April 1880. Gollop attained the rank of Quartermaster Sergeant in September 1888. He served in Bermuda, March 1873-November 1876; British North America, November 1876-November 1878; Cyprus, November 1878-October 1880, and Malta, October 1880-January 1881. Quartermaster Gollop was awarded the Army L.S. & G.C. in 1887. He was
awarded the M.S.M. with an annuity of £10 on 1 April 1904 and was discharged at his own request in January 1906 and was awarded a gratuity of £5. In ‘McInnes’, where he is listed as ‘Gallop’, it states that he then served in the 3rd Volunteer Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers until 1908 and that he was alive in 1926. With copied service papers.
