A scarce Great War ‘Mesopotamia’ M.S.M. awarded to Private W. Entwistle, 6th Battalion Royal Lancaster Regiment

Army Meritorious Service Medal, G.V.R., 1st issue (10537 Pte., 6/R. Lanc. R.) some edge bruising, very fine £120-160

M.S.M. London Gazette 16 August 1917. ‘... in recognition of valuable services rendered with the Armies in the Field during the present war.’ ‘10537 Pte., R. Lan. R.’ - for service in ‘Mesopotamia’.

62 M.S.M’s. awarded to the Royal Lancaster Regiment; only three awarded for ‘Mesopotamia’.

Private William Entwistle, Royal Lancaster Regiment, entered the France/Flanders theatre of war on 15 January 1915. Later transferred to Class ‘Z’ Reserve. Entitled to the 1914-15 Star, British War and Victory Medals. With copied gazette extract and copied m.i.c. for the M.S.M. and W.W.1 medals.
