Hammond, J., The Virtuoso’s Guide in Collecting Provincial Copper Coins, Being a Copious and Perfect Description, Of all that are now Extant. London, Printed by, and for J. Hammond, No.12, St Martin’s Lane and Sold by Jones, No.17, Butcher Row, and Denton, Hospital Gate, Smithfield, 1795. 8vo, 19th century olive half morocco, spine lettered in gilt on maroon, a little rubbed, a few leaves loose. (4) + 46pp, wanting the final leaf of advertisements, interleaved with extensive annotations in ink in two hands. Signature of J. Alfred Wigan on the front endpapers. With extensive annotations on the interleaves which are very much earlier and almost certainly contemporary with the book itself. Exceptionally rare; the only copy seen by the cataloguer in commerce (Manville 233). £800-1,000
