1st Volunteer Battalion, The Essex Regiment, two other ranks helmet plates, c1883-1901, the first of QVC Maltese cross pattern in blackened brass, centre as for regular battalions except Egypt is omitted, title circle reads ‘ESSEX’ ‘1st VOLR BATTN’, the second plate in blackened brass of QVC star pattern with similar centre and title structures, the blackened finish rubbed on the first plate, otherwise both plates in excellent condition (2) £120-160
