Private Arthur Sidney Clark, 1st battalion Essex Regiment was killed in action 5 December 1941 at El Duba, Tobruk when after capturing this escarpment on the 27th November they were heavily counter attacked with tanks and guns over a week long period, having suffered nearly 200 casualties in killed and wounded they were compelled to withdraw there forces back to Tobruk.
