Indian Mutiny 1857-58, 1 clasp, Lucknow (Asst. Surgn. E. H. Roberts, 79th Highlanders) contact marks, otherwise very fine £180-220

Edmund Humphrey Roberts was appointed Assistant Surgeon to the 72nd Highlanders in June 1854 and served with them in the Crimea from 13 June 1855, includint the expedition of Kertch, siege and fall of Sebastopol, and attacks of the 18th June and 8th September (Medal with Clasp and Turkish Medal). He became Assistant Surgeon to the 79th Highlanders in July 1857 and served with them in the Indian Campaign of 1857-58, including the siege and capture of Lucknow, attack on the fort of Rooyah, action of Allygunge, and capture of Bareilly (Medal with Clasp). He became Deputy Surgeon General in May 1886, retired in March 1889, and died at Brighton on 24 November 1894.
