Crimea 1854-55, 3 clasps, Alma, Inkermann, Sebastopol (Lieut. Henry James, 20th Regt.) contemporary engraved naming, fitted with ornate silver buckle, very fine £250-300

Lieutenant Henry James embarked on the Colombo at Plymouth on 17 July 1854, bound for Turkey. He disembarked on 14 September, near Lake Saki, as part of the 1st Brigade, 4th Division. He took command of his company at Inkermann and marched as the leading company of Colonel Horn’s wing. His company was sent out to support the Guards on the right and, later in the battle, fought with Major Hay at the Sandbag Battery which was one of the fiercest parts of the battle. Lieutenant James retired by sale of his commission on 9 August 1855.
