Three: African Station Sergeant S. T. J. Nhandara, British South Africa Police

War Medal 1939-45; Colonial Police Forces L.S. & G.C., E.II.R., 2nd issue (11294 African Sgt. Stanislaus T. J. Nhandara, B.S.A.); St. John Service Medal (Takawira 11294, Rhodesia S.J.A.B. 1959), this last officially renamed, generally good very fine (3) £100-120

Stanislaus Takawira Jojo Nhandara, who was born in Goromonzi in January 1925 and was educated at the Chishawasha Mission School, enlisted in the British South Africa Police in April 1944. Stationed in Salisbury for most of his career, he was awarded his Colonial Police Forces L.S. & G.C. in November 1962 and retired in July 1969. At some stage recommended for - but not awarded - the Meritorious Service Medal, he also appears to have been entitled to the Rhodesia General Service and Police L.S. & G.C. Medals. Nhandara was employed as a caretaker at Harare National Sports Centre in 1980; sold with research, including copy of his M.S.M. recommendation, which cites good work in the arrest of two thieves in the late 1950s.
