Army Long Service and Good Conduct Medal, V.R., large letter reverse (J. Coulter, Color Serjt. 59th Regiment Foot. 1843) fitted with steel clip and bar suspension, attempted erasure of naming but still easily legible, nearly very fine £60-80

James Coulter was born at Killeshandra, Cavan, Ireland, circa 1803, and enlisted into the 1/59th at Dublin on 19 March 1821. He served in the East Indies from October 1822 until June 1828, and was present at the operations before Bhurtpoor (Medal with clasp). He was discharged on 9 January 1844 with the rank of Colour Sergeant.
