Waterloo 1815 (William Shipcott, 28th Regiment Foot) fitted with original steel clip and ring suspension, edge bruises and contact marks, otherwise very fine £600-700

William Shipcott was born in the Parish of St Sidwells, near Exeter, in the County of Devon. He was a Sawyer by trade and enlisted into the 28th Foot in July 1804. He served in the Peninsular and was present during the retreat to Corunna in 1809, and also at the battle of Waterloo, where he served in Captain Sir Frederick Steven’s Company. He is also entitled to the M.G.S. medal for Corunna. Sold with copy discharge papers.
