John George Bruce Gardner was born in and enlisted at Hastings. Serving in the 1st/15th Battalion London Regiment, he was killed in action on 18 August 1918, aged 20 years. He was buried in the Bonnay Communal Cemetery Extension, Somme, France. He was the son of John and Nellie L. Gardner of 89 High Street, Hastings.
