Ernest John Haskins was born in Bournemouth, Hampshire, and enlisted at Nottingham. Serving with the 8th Battalion Leicestershire Regiment, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, on 15 July 1916, aged 21 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Frederick and Martha Haskins of 10 Palmerston Row, West Street, Poole, Dorset.
