Arthur Ploughman was born in St. Mary’s, Staines, Middlesex and enlisted at Northampton. He served initially with the 2nd Battalion. Later, serving with the 1st Battalion, he was killed in action, France/Flanders, 9 September 1916, aged 26 years. He was buried in the Caterpillar Valley Cemetery, Longueval, Somme, France. He was the son of Mrs E. Anderson of 9 Albert Place, Abingdon Street, Northampton.
