William Anderson was born in Meerut, India. He attested for service with the East India Forces on 20 September 1856, aged 14 years. With the 101st Regiment he served in India for over 12 years; Malta for over 3 years and Cyprus for 2 months. He was discharged at Netley on 25 November 1878, being unfit for further service. With copied service papers.
