Walter Ernest Walter attested for the 2nd Imperial Light Horse on 9 November 1914 and was posted to ‘K’ Squadron. He was discharged after serving in German South West Africa on 12 June 1915. He then attested for the South African Field Artillery on 13 September 1915 and served as a Gunner in German East Africa. Walter was discharged to a temporary commission in the King’s African Rifles on 26 November 1917. Released from military service at Durban on 21 March 1919. With copied S. African service papers and other research.
