Archibald Cullen attested for the 8th Infantry (Transvaal Scottish) on 21 August 1914. He was transferred to the 12th Citizen Battery as a Gunner in February 115 and was discharged on 20 July 1915. He then attested for the 2nd Rhodesian Regiment on 27 August 1915. With them he entered British East Africa on 30 October 1915. He participated in the actions at Taveta, Latema, German Bridge, Mkalamo, Lukigura, Mkindu in German East Africa. Cullen returned to South Africa in January 1917 and was discharged at Roberts Heights, Transvaal, on 7 August 1917. With copied research.
