Daniel Meikle was born in and enlisted at Greenock, Renfrewshire. Serving with the 1/5th Battalion Argyll & Sutherland Highlanders, he was killed in action in an attack on the Achi Baba Nullah, Gallipoli, 12 July 1915, aged 19 years. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Daniel Meikle. Note: ‘Soldiers Died’ lists him as being K.I.A. in Egypt.
