Hammer Price:
£620

18th Century Tokens, Buckinghamshire, Slough, William Till and John Peckham, Proof mule Halfpenny, 1794, in silver, arms of the Till family, rev. arms of the Peckham family, edge plain, 12.15g/12h (DH 25; Preston-Morley 1049). Obverse with trifling nick on rim at 12 o’clock, reverse with some uneveness in tone and the usual flaw on the rim, otherwise brilliant and virtually as struck, of the highest rarity; only two other specimens known £500-700

Contrary to the note in Davisson’s 1990 revision of D & H, this coin and the other two specimens (P. Preston-Morley Collection, lot 1049, and M. Rasmussen FPL 8, Summer 2005, no. 6), both now privately owned, demonstrates that DH 25 does exist in silver
