WORLD ART MEDALS United States of America, World war ii, bronze memorial medal for fallen soldiers, undated, c. 1946, signed GB in field, head of American soldier to right, they died for liberty around, reverse mourning woman turned away from viewer in centre between two rows of crosses, 20,000 us soldiers buried at margraten, 124mm; a bronze tray, struck during the American Legion Pilgrimage to Paris for the inauguration of the Chateau Thierry Monument, by Walravens and de Sande, Brussels, 118mm, with original box and leaflet [2]. Both extremely fine, first not listed by Schwan and Bolin (£40-50)

Identity of the artist responsible for the medallion not known to the cataloguer, but a dignified and moving study.
