David Hughes was born in Flint, Flintshire, lived in Todmorden, Yorkshire, and enlisted at Bury, Lancashire. Serving with the 9th Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers, he was killed in action in the Sulva Bay landings in Gallipoli, on 7 August 1915. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey. With some copied research. Additionally entitled to the 1914-15 Star.
