David Drury was born and lived in Oldbury, Worcestershire and enlisted at Worcester. As a Private in the 9th Battalion Worcestershire Regiment, he entered the Balkan theatre of war on 4 July 1915. He died of wounds received at Gallipoli on 9 August 1915, aged 26 years, and was buried at sea. His name is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey. He was the son of Emmanuel and Henrietta Drury of 36 Eel Street, Oldbury, and husband of Florence Drury of 11 New Street, Oldbury, Birmingham. With copied m.i.c. and other research.
