John Vickers was born in and enlisted at Glossop, Derbyshire. Serving with the 1st Battalion Cheshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 5 September 1916, aged 33 years. Having no known grave, his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial. He was the son of Michael and Sarah Ann Vickers and the husband of Alice Ann Vickers of 3 Charles Street, Glossop, Derbyshire.
