Estimate: £100–£150

Boy Scout Association ‘Badge of Thanks’, gold fylfot cross upon which is superimposed the Boy Scout badge, 20 x 20mm., with a gold pin fitting, extremely fine £100-150

Contained in damaged Mappin & Webb card box, with a note that reads, ‘The ‘Thanks’ Brooch of the Boy Scout Association (Hants) Presented to E. M. Cooper in 1928’.

Edith Mary Cooper, née Muggleton, onetime Maid at Braemar House, Hampshire, married Nelson Cooper, who was Butler at the same establishment. He was later the Head Verger at Salisbury Cathedral. Both Nelson and Edith Cooper died in 1977 and were interred in the grounds of Salisbury Cathedral. It is presumed the badge was awarded to Mrs Cooper for services rendered to the Boy Scout Association over a period of time.
