Robert Mervyn McRae was born in Stanger on 29 August 1906. A Mechanic by occupation, he attested for service in the South African Engineer Corps in April 1940. He served in the East African, Abyssinian and Middle Eastern Campaigns and was discharged on 19 September 1942. With copied service papers.
