Alfred William White was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Army Service Corps on 22 July 1918. After the war he lived in Southern Rhodesia where he farmed at Surat Farm, Chatsworth, near Umvuma. As a Lieutenant in the Southern Rhodesia Territorial Force, he was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (Southern Rhodesia), published in the Colony of Southern Rhodesia Government Gazette 29 December 1933.
