Alexander Stormouth MacAlister served in the ranks of the Volunteers before being commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Northern Bengal Mounted Rifles on 1 September 1912. He was promoted to Lieutenant in December 1914 and Captain in April 1917. He was awarded the Volunteer Force Long Service Medal, published in I.A.O. 493 of May 1917. Captain MacAlister resigned his commission whilst retaining his rank on 20 April 1920. In civilian life he was Manager of the Northern Dooars Tea Company Ltd at Binaguri, Jalpaiguri, and latterly an Assistant in the business house of Macneill in Calcutta. With copied research.
