Vincent Wilbert Labanti was born on 20 September 1900. He was granted a commission as a 2nd Lieutenant in the Indian Army Reserve of Officers on 1 November 1918 and latterly served with the 21st Punjabis. Subsequently serving in the Auxiliary Force India, on 1 October 1920 he was appointed 2nd Lieutenant with No. 7 (Lucknow) Company, Machine Gun Corps, A.F.I.; he was promoted to Lieutenant in February 1922. In 1928 he transferred to No. 5 (Agra) Company, M.G.C., A.F.I., and in 1929 he transferred to the Delhi Contingent. Promoted to Captain in April 1939, he was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (India), listed in the Gazette of India of 14 December 1940. During the Second World War he was appointed an officer in the Indian Army Ordnance Corps. Ranked as a Captain, he was at times a Temporary Major, and was latterly an Acting Lieutenant-Colonel with the 6th Rajputana Rifles. Sold with forwarding slips for the India Service and Indian Independence Medals, and with copied research.
