James Wilfred Jones was commissioned a 2nd Lieutenant in the Chota Nagpur Regiment, A.F.I., on 27 February 1925. Promoted to Lieutenant in February 1927 and Captain in April 1934, he was awarded the Efficiency Decoration (India), published in the Gazette of India of 24 October 1942. After being granted the honorary rank of Major in 1942 he was promoted to that rank in in January 1943. With copied research.
