Henry Montagu Shallett O’Brien was appointed a Lieutenant in the Border Regiment on 10 May 1882, becoming Captain in December 1891. He served with the Waziristan Field Force 1894-95, but did not serve in the Boer War. He was promoted to Major in August 1902 and retired prior to 1914.
